Papamoa Fire Station Donated Kitchen Feeds Anzac Veterans

Randy approached Russell of Kitchens R Us Mount Maunganui with a favour – could we supply a kitchen for a worthy cause and a hard-working fire fighting team? Absolutely we could!

Our Designer Desi, and Operations Manager Hadyn, set to work on making it happen. A preliminary site measure was conducted and a design was put together. Loads of bench space was specified for community events where bulk food needed to be prepped. Allowances for appliances such as 900mm wide oven and double door fridge. Plenty of storage, and hard- wearing surfaces too.

Once a design was approved, we set to work constructing the cabinetry, utilising a mix of an ex-demo kitchen and new cabinets to flesh out the design, everything was pieced together in our factory in Newton Street, Mount Maunganui.

Fellow fire fighter Greg Jensen of Laminex came to the party with Formica for our Ultra Services Solutions benchtop to match the new cabinetry footprint. We used Melteca Naturale in Mist colourway, Hafele soft close hinges and drawer runners. Install day went without a hitch. While it would have been exciting to experience the real-life drill of an emergency call out and watching the firetruck boost out of the station, we were glad for a non-eventful day.

Randy and his fellow firefighters sacrifice their own time to keep the community safe and are well-deserving of their upgraded facilities. We hope that this new kitchen feeds the Papamoa Fire Station team and its community for years to come.
